Kanematsu Corporation will introduce the "Bronze Week" system for the planned allocation of annual paid leave on April 1, 2016. This will help create an environment in which it is easier for employees to take annual paid leave, enable everyone to strike a work-lift balance, and pave the way for pleasant and rewarding working environments.

Outline of the planned allocation system

・This is an extended consecutive holiday system that will enable individuals to take consecutive holidays of four days or longer, by taking annual paid leave on days falling in between national holidays or on either side of three-day holidays.

・It will be based on an individual allocation system. At the start of the fiscal year, each department will earmark possible dates for members to take annual paid leave at least four times a year (one day each time). Individuals will then select at least two of those days a year and take leave.

・With certain exceptions (overseas employees on assignment in Japan, Japanese employees working overseas, employees on leave, etc.), this will be applicable to all employees, as a rule.

・The system is called "Bronze Week" because it will be similar to Golden Week or Silver Week for employees using the system to take consecutive holidays. The aim is to encourage uptake of annual paid leave.

By introducing the Bronze Week system, Kanematsu is hoping to increase uptake of annual paid leave from the current level of approximately 60% to around 70%.
Kanematsu continues to implement a wide range of initiatives aimed at striking a work-life balance, including allocating "refresh days," encouraging employees to take consecutive holidays, operating a volunteer leave scheme and promoting "morning work." It is hoped that this will enable employees to have energetic working lives, while helping to improve operating efficiency, productivity and competitiveness.
Kanematsu will continue to work towards striking a work-life balance in the future, as a company that offers a pleasant and rewarding place to work.
