Kanematsu Chemicals Corporation (“Kanematsu Chemicals”), a group company of Kanematsu Corporation, is pleased to announce that it has acquired ISCC EU certification at its Osaka Branch.
International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is a certification scheme for products manufactured from materials such as biomass and recycled materials, allocated using the mass balance method*1. It certifies that products are sustainable and traceable and that they are appropriately managed throughout the supply chain.
The acquisition of ISCC EU certification will enable Kanematsu Chemicals to handle ISCC EU-certified biofuels and bio-based raw materials. In accordance with the latest ISCC regulations, Kanematsu Chemicals will comply with ISCC EU requirements and conduct appropriate management to ensure that materials are not double-counted within the scope of other sustainability certification schemes or ISCC EU certification.
In addition, Kanematsu Chemicals acquired ISCC PLUS certification at its Tokyo Head Office in April 2025. By obtaining ISCC EU certification in addition to ISCC PLUS certification, Kanematsu Chemicals has further strengthened its framework for handling sustainable materials and products and will continue to meet the evolving sustainability needs of its customers.
As a specialized chemical trading company, Kanematsu Chemicals will continue to contribute to greater supply chain transparency and the realization of a decarbonized society through the provision of essential chemical products across a wide range of industries. *1: Mass balance is a chain-of-custody method whereby, when materials with different characteristics are mixed, a specific characteristic of one of those materials is allocated to part of the manufactured product according to the input volume of the material having that characteristic.
