Indonesia continues to experience growing energy demand as its economy expands, while balancing this growth with decarbonization has become an important challenge. In island regions in particular, greater use of renewable energy and more efficient energy consumption are required.
Under this project, AEI, which operates a renewable energy business in Indonesia, and SOMA, which supplies electricity in western Karimun Island, will lead and mutually collaborate in the implementation. Shizen Energy Inc., Alamport Inc., and Kanematsu, as major shareholders of AEI, will support the project by leveraging their respective business platforms and expertise. The project will introduce renewable energy to the local mini-grid through the use of solar power and battery storage. It will also introduce AI-based remote monitoring of equipment, develop personnel responsible for operation and maintenance (O&M), and provide local industries with solutions that support energy efficiency and the transition of equipment and machinery from fossil fuels to electricity (electrification). Through these initiatives, the five companies will expand the supply of renewable energy and improve energy efficiency in an integrated manner, contributing to region-wide decarbonization from both the supply and demand sides in compliance with applicable regulation in Indonesia.
Under its Medium-Term Management Plan, “integration 1.1,” Kanematsu has set out its Vision of becoming a “solutions provider that leads the transformation of efficient and sustainable supply chains” and is promoting GX as one of its key initiatives. Going forward, Kanematsu will continue to provide GX solutions tailored to customer needs to Kanematsu Group companies, customers, and partners, thereby contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.
