Kanematsu handles "Glycol Lignin (GL)," a new bio-derived material made from Japanese cedar, a tree indigenous to Japan. GL is a derivative of the cedar lignin extracted with polyethylene glycol (PEG). The lignin is extracted from the Japanese cedar, which contains about 30% lignin, by modifying it with PEG, and GL has excellent properties of being heat-resistant, easy to process, and environmentally friendly. Kanematsu, together with the company "LignoMateria," provides GL to a wide variety of industries. GL can be used as a substitute for petrochemical-derived resins in various chemical and electronic materials, including fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) for automotive interiors and exteriors and automotive plastic parts.
