The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) is an international initiative whose establishment in June 2021 was led by the United Nations (UNEPFI/UNDP) and international NGOs. The organization aims to support a shift in financial flows toward nature positive outcomes, which are the concept to put nature on a path to recovery through halting and reversing the loss of biodiversity by 2030, by disclosing nature-related information. The TNFD Forum is an assembly of stakeholders who support TNFD discussions.
Kanematsu has identified “Building a Sustainable Supply Chain,” “Decarbonization Initiatives” and “Mutual Development with Local Communities” as key issues (Materiality) to be addressed through its business operations. As such, the Kanematsu Group is fully engaged in and recognizes the importance of protecting biodiversity and natural capital.
Kanematsu will use this opportunity in joining the TNFD Forum to ascertain its dependencies on biodiversity and natural capital and how its business activities affect them. The Company will also work to provide analyses and disclosures based on the TNFD framework and continue minimizing the aforementioned effects.
